La Salle Water Tank

Coblaco has been hard at work on a 3.34 million gallon tank for NOCO Engineering in La Salle, Colorado. This project involves coating the entire inside of the tank as well as painting up to one foot around the tank's exterior base to help protect the welds. A new floor had already been laid inside the tank, so the ring around the exterior, as well as painting the floor, are measures that will help protect the new steel from corrosion.

The work has not come without challenges. The temperature and sunlight heating up the metal on the tank forces the crew to apply the zinc-based material in the mornings so that it can cure at the proper temperature. The tank also has I-beams at the top which are extremely close together, making it difficult, at some points, for the applicators and blasters to reach every inch of the metal. Also, due to the size of the tank, the crew is having to use a large supply of blast media to get the tank prepped for coating.

The walls of the tank are striped before the zinc coating is applied.

With the professional and experienced crews Coblaco can provide on any job, these issues are navigable and the project is being completed with the highest level of care and precision.
